UFN 21

Ok kids. What did we learn from last night's UFN 21? Yes, that is correct. Nate Quarry loves to get punched in the face early and often. Aside from that the card was a lot of fun to watch. Then it was followed by TUF11 and EVERY fight was gangbusters. But let's get back to what went down at UFN. I was ranked #27 out of 4000 people in my fantasy league. Needless to say, this was the best I have ever picked.

The undercard featured former #1 contender Yushin Okami and my man Gerald Harris. Both won their fights by tko. However both should be on a main card. C'mon son. Put those 2 on a main card.

The show started with Ross Pearson vs Dennis Siver. Ross Pearson is doing his thing right now. All is clicking for him in the UFC. Time for him to step up in competition. While Siver is a good opponent for anyone he tends to get hit more than anyone in mma not named Nate Quarry or Forrest Griffin. Pearson should fight a good wrestler or jits guy so we can see him get tested on the ground. Regardless, he is going to be tough to beat.

Next up was Nate Quarry vs Jorge Rivera. Nate looked handsome and beautiful with his new walk out shirt that you can purchase at Nathanquarry.net. Yours truly did the graphic. I know. I am awesome.

Sadly Nate stepped into a knife fight with Jorge Rivera who had a bazooka. Congrats to Jorge though. That was a great win. I wasn't aware that he lost his daughter. as a parent I feel for him. No parent should ever have to go through that.

Next was going to be Struve vs Big Country but the inevitable happened... Bruce Buffer brought the house down. We knew that 1 time when Bruce was rocking the hell out of an arena that his awesomeness would kill all the power. He did. It happened. He is my hero.

So we cut to Caol Uno vs Gleisen Tibeau. This looked like a 185 lber vs a featherweight. Gleisen treated Uno that way too. It was a brutal smashing of the little Japanese legend. While Uno went back to lick his wounds and fight another day hopefully Gleisen shaved his head. Cause damn he got some cul-de-sac's he's hanging on to.

Back from the buffer induced blackout and Roy Nelson Steps in against Kareem-Abdul-JaStruve. Roy generates so much power from that marshmallow looking center that he calls a stomach and hit an overhand right with his eyes closed that in Joe Rogan's words 'folded him like a lawn chair'. Roy couldn't be reached for comment post fight as he was bankrupting a KFC.

Lastly we came to Gomi and Ken Flo. The crowd is still reeling from the Buffer "roar heard 'round the world". Gomi comes in to no pop whatsoever because no one knows who the hell he is. Why? Cause after marketing dollars were thrown at Heath Herring, Dan Henderson, Wanderlei Silva, and Cro Cop and all lost their 1st or 2nd fights post Pride... the UFC brass learned their lesson. Gomi is a huge star in Japan and was the #1 lw in the world for years. So he comes to the UFC where finally the guys at Zuffa said, "Fuck this. We are going to wait and see how he does in the octagon. Let Goldie and Rogan hype him during his fight. Then its free." Anyone who has seen Gomi fight KNEW he was getting tapped in this fight. I picked it happening in the 2nd. Kenny made it happen in the 3rd. I wanted Gomi to make a Pride like run but that wasn't going to happen with Kenny as his 1st opponent. On a side note I had the fight muted and could still hear Keith Florian screaming.
